"Happy Deepavali to you and your beautiful family"! May the divine light of this festival illuminate your life with endless joy, prosperity, and good health.
As we celebrate the festival of lights, all of us at CHHASE—our staff, youth, and the resilient women we serve—are pausing to reflect on the incredible light you have brought into our lives. We are profoundly grateful for your generous past support of our "Skills Training & Sewing Machines for Empowering Women and Youth" program.
Because of your compassion, CHHASE has been able to distribute 400 sewing machines to underprivileged women and youth, alongside 75 embroidery cots to tribal families. Your contributions also provided vital daily refreshments during their training, keeping their spirits high as they learned a life-changing trade. Today, these individuals are running successful home-based tailoring businesses, earning a dignified income, and lifting their families out of poverty.
True empowerment, however, requires constant care. In 2018, we faced a profound learning experience. We had gifted sewing machines to 15 brave widows determined to educate their children. Later, we discovered that two of them, overwhelmed by sudden family medical emergencies and lacking deep confidence in their tailoring skills, had sold their $120 machines for a meager $20 just to survive.
We knew we couldn't let their dreams fade. CHHASE immediately stepped in, tracking down the buyers, repurchasing the machines, and returning them to the widows. More importantly, we enrolled them in comprehensive training to perfect their skills. Today, armed with true expertise and renewed confidence, they are thriving business owners keeping their children in school.
This Deepavali, we are preparing to extend this life-changing gift to a new group of vulnerable women and widows. A sewing machine in the hands of a determined mother is more than a tool—it is a sustainable future.
