Project Report:

Peace Foundation has been implementing the project "Train Local Women on Self-Injection Family Planning Method in Sindh, Pakistan" for the past 12 months with the generous support of anonymous donors through GlobalGiving. We sincerely thank our donors and the GlobalGiving team for supporting this important initiative, especially at a time when funding opportunities for family planning in Pakistan are very limited. Despite receiving modest funding and facing implementation challenges, we have continued to make steady progress toward our project goals. However, additional resources are needed to reach the project's original targets and benefit more women and girls.

.Activities Completed

Activity 1: Training of Young Female Peer Educators

Peace Foundation organized a comprehensive training program for 20 young women selected from project communities. The training covered:

  • Introduction to self-care in sexual and reproductive health
  • Modern family planning methods as DMPA-SC Self-Injection (SI)
  • Eligibility criteria and informed choice
  • Injection technique and safe administration
  • Storage and disposal of injection devices
  • Side-effect management
  • Counselling and communication skills
  • Referral pathways to health facilities
  • Record keeping and reporting

Peace Foundation successfully completed the training of 20 young female peer educators on DMPA-SC Self-Injection (SI) and self-care family planning. The trained participants demonstrated improved knowledge and confidence regarding self-injection techniques, counselling skills, management of common side effects, referral mechanisms, and communication with community members.

Following the completion of the training, each participant developed an individual community action plan to reach at least 10 additional young women within her village. Through this cascading strategy, the project expects to reach a minimum of 200 additional adolescent girls and young women during the next phase of implementation
