The latest class began in October of 2013, and continued until April, 2014. 15 young women were selected to be part of the project.
RUCONET introduced the project to the village and religious leaders of four villages in the Ward by
visiting them at their offices and informed them about the project. The leaders summoned the girls whom they
proposed to be selected and contacted their parents/guardians for the girls to be
interviewed. RUCONET team went to each village to interview the girls and those who were found
eligible were selected and a final decision was made on girls fitted most for the training as they were seen
to be desperately in need.
The girls learned to sew men and women's clothes as well as how to design their own fashions. The class also included training in embroidery, decorations and design. As part of their training, the girls attended a workshop on entrepreneurship and business skills.
through this training, the girls havechanged their life standards for themselves and their families. they are no longer dependent upon relatives for support. Most of the trainees are now self employed.
Again, many thanks to the generosity of our donors and GlobalGiving.
