It’s that time of year again. Students and teachers around the world are getting ready for a new school year; setting new goals and preparing to take on new challenges. It is with that in mind that we have chosen this time to shine the light on all the teachers of the world and the impact they have on their communities.

At corners we recognize the power of teachers in communities around the world; and with the help of our donors, we are harnessing this power to cultivate resilience against poverty and crisis in vulnerable places by training teachers to teach transformative citizenship, equipping them and their students with the entrepreneurship and civic engagement skills to do so.

We also want to recognize all those who have shown interest and supported our cause. We are ever grateful for your donations and investments that have come in many forms. The impact they have had on all our teachers in training, and the boys and girls at Mbeka Girls’, Nyang’oma Boys’, and Joyland Schools has already been life changing for some, and acts as a beacon of hope for every Transformative Citizenship participant. Every donation made continues to touch communities; grooming a new generation of teachers who, with strengthened capacity, can better their communities and ultimately, the world.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to Kenya’s Ministry of Education in their adoption of the Transformative Citizenship Program for Kenya’s secondary school students.

Asante sana.

Sincerely,
Kiishi Ogunfowora,
Director of Engagement.

Transformative Citizenship's New Engagement Campaign

                                                                      10  DOLLARS, 10 000 TIMES

Hello All,
It’s finally summer, and as previously stated, we are back in action and ready to move forward again with the Transformative Citizenship Program in Kenya.
In the spirit of the refreshing of this program, we at corners have come up with a new initiative to help further the impact of our Transformative Citizenship Program (TCP). In order to improve on the work that the Transformative Citizenship teachers have been doing in Kenya and to help empower more youth, we are launching an engagement campaign “10 dollars x 10,000 times”.
With 10,000 $10 donations, we will provide training materials for teachers-in-training, provide online support to program students and teachers, and better fund community outreach to engage stakeholders.
Can you engage 10 others in matching your contribution? The exponential power of the ripple effect to transform lives!
And, beyond donations to this campaign, we always welcome new Transformative CItizenship program participants!
                                                                             10,000
                                                             More Steps Outward, Teaching
                                                                             10,000
More Young Citizens Fully Empowered to---
Transform WHAT surrounds them into Resources
Transform WHO surrounds them into genuine, peaceful, Reciprocal Relationships
                                                          This is Transformative Citizenship

To promote global outreach and participation, we are launching on social media platforms where we will share our progress with the program as well as information on all the projects in which we are involved.
We remain grateful for your interest and support of what our organization stands for.
Asante sana.
Gratefully,
Kiishi Ogunfowora

Hello All,

We hope this note finds you well and smoothly revved up into 2018.

Our Transformative Citizenship teachers in Kenya continue to work hard and with unwavering dedication to their and our students.

Our partners at the Ministry are still making some adjustments following the election and its aftermath. Our Minister remains the same, though. So, our program arrangements are not being passed on to a new leader.

With a combination of circumstances at hand, we are pressing the hold button until summer. We will then let you know about that next critical trip to Kenya to finish the frontline teacher training and hand over the reins to the Ministry.

We are grateful, as ever, for your continued interest and support and welcome contributions to build our fund until Summer Refresh Button time - as we look to our next 2018 phase.

With immense appreciation,

Quentin Hill, Chair

Kenyans are dealing with continued instability regarding last week’s second election results and unyielding opposition – much fear and frustration on all sides. We continue to hold them in our thoughts as we make our plans to rejoin them in 2018 for the next phase of “Training Kenyan Educators to Empower Youth” with our Transformative Citizenship Program and its curriculum.            TODAY November 2017                                                   corners'  Transformative Citizenship needs You!

Empowered Kenyan Educators Empowered Kenyan Youth!

Please include us in your 2017 holiday giving. We require $15,000.

-----------------------------

Regardless of Kenya’s current unrest, we are making our 2018 plans and remain dedicated to our educational empowerment mission.

With your support toward our $15,000 goal, our next report will be sent to you from back on-the-ground with our Kenyan team.

------------------------------

We will return to Kenya to finalize which directorate Transformative Citizenship will be planted in at the Ministry of Education. We will begin 2018 by collaborating to begin formal Ministry monitoring and evaluation of the program’s standardization within Kenya’s secondary school curriculum.

We welcome each dollar of donations and would also be grateful for a one-time sponsorship for this next critical phase.

It has been a difficult year for our Kenyan friends and colleagues as well as for corners; but we remain keen to re-join our Kenyan Transformative Citizenship leaders: George, Kevin, Abayo, Harriet, Elizabeth, Zedekiah and others, along with our current group of 200 students, to take this next, near-final step forward for Joyland, Mbeka Girls', Nyang'oma Boys' Schools and Kenya's Ministry of Education.

Asante sana – we thank you and are grateful for your continued interest and engagement.

Safiri salama always.

Today, as votes are being counted and confirmed in the national election, our thoughts are with all Kenyans. We hope for peace in the coming days, while results are tallied and announced.

With the lead-up to this election and during the coming period of transition –either from one leadership to another or one governing term to the next– we are keeping the Transformative Citizenship Program in a holding pattern.

Once things have settled into the new administrative term, we will plan our return to Kenya to finalize which directorate Transformative Citizenship will be planted in at the Ministry of Education. We will then collaborate in establishing formal ministry monitoring and evaluation of the program’s standardization within Kenya’s secondary school curriculum.

We would welcome a one-time sponsorship for this next phase. We plan for it to be the second last phase in Kenya. As circumstances have limited current resources, a one-time sponsorship would ease the way for us to re-join our Kenyan Transformative Citizenship leaders: George, Kevin, Abayo, Harriet, Elizabeth, Zedekiah and others to take this next, near-final step forward for Joyland, Mbeka Girls', Nyang'oma Boys' Schools and Kenya's National Education Sector Plan.

Asante sana – we thank you and are grateful for your continued interest and engagement. For now, we remain focused on our concern and hope for Kenya and will update you as soon as the next term of governing has gained its momentum.

Talk soon. Take care.

Safiri salama,
