This past year has come with a series of unexpected events that have had an impact on individuals and organizations all over the world; not excluding us at corners. The coronavirus pandemic has made executing some of the plans and initiatives we had planned for the year difficult. However, we remain committed to our cause and are determined to stay resilient through the challenges that are presented to us.
We are working harder than ever to make the transformative citizenship program available online in collaboration with GLocate technologies and Eduweb technologies. It is our hope that online accessibility to the program would make outreach to those who may need the program much easier.
We are also working to get some Government funding before the end of the year to help maintain some of the work we have already started in Kenya, and to aid our transition to online operation.
As always, we are grateful for your continued support and contributions to our cause. We hope that you all continue to stay safe, healthy, and positive.
There is no doubt that we are currently in very turbulent and uncertain times. As a result of this many of us have had to change our plans, adjust our ways of living and come to terms with the fact that we are in a new reality.
In effort to keep everyone safe, we at corners have decided to cancel our trip to kenya indefinitely as we wait to hear from the Government and Health experts about when it is safe to travel.
Nevertheless, we are working on alternative campaigns and initiatives to provide help and relief to those who may be most vulnerable in Kenya and in our local communities. We need your assistance now more than ever as it would greatly impact the lives of many.
We encourage you to follow our twitter page for regular updates on our next steps and information on how we are handling working through a pandemic. We greatly appreciate all your contributions to our cause thus far and hope that you all continue to remain safe and healthy.
As we stated in our previous report, we will be implementing many of the new initiatives we have been working on this year.
We are scheduled to return to Kenya in the summer; and are currently awaiting funding that would allow us to run our collaboration project with G-locate and Eduweb Technologies on the ground.
We are also planning to expand our reach to current and prospective transformative citizenship participants by having a stronger presence on various social media platforms including: instagram, twitter, facebook and youtube.
We appreciate all the support we have recieved thus far, and hope that you continue to support our cause and mission.
Our invitation to share a way in which you resolved or solved a conflict by sharing a photo, video or story about yourself is still open. We are still accepting your emails via this email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
2020 is on the horizon. We want to share again that 2020 is the year we will be returning to Kenya to continue training teachers in the Transformative Citizenship Program(TCP) as well as taking TCP online, in partnership with G-Locate (Canada) and Eduweb (Kenya).
Please support us in these initiatives.
Right now, we also want to invite you to join in a project. Simple. Personal. Could you send us a photo, video or story that in some way shares with us a moment when you have built (or rebuilt) peace in your own life.
At home or a work, how do you resolve or prevent conflict? Please share...inspire, encourage, educate and compel us to pick up your ideas or embrace more of our own.
You can send all your photos, videos and stories to us via this email: email@example.com.
We at corners are excited to announce that we will be collaborating with Eduweb Technologies (Kenya) and G-locate Technologies (Canada) on a new project. The collaboration will support the limitless capability of the Transformative Citizenship Program by making the program available to for those who cannot actually attend in-person sessions, whether temporarily or for the entire program. Countless more participants can benefit from both the in-person and online versions. All that will be needed is access to a single device – even just a phone.
The Transformative Citizenship software will be designed and tested to be implemented as an interactive, online learning platform with an app and portal for participant network development, as well as digitalized participant tracking and performance monitoring.
This process/project of design, delivery and testing will be rolled out by training and deploying women TCP trainers (of in-person and online) who will then train Kenyan teachers, who will teach Kenyan secondary students. And so on. Our commitment throughout is to highlight our women role models and to serve at least 50% women and girls in our teacher and student populations.
We will continue to keep you all up to date on our work in Kenya as well as new TCP initiatives that we are working on. We are grateful for your continuous support of our cause.
