Young people should not have to choose between unemployment and hopelessness. Our Train Idle Youth in Tailoring Project aims to give unemployed and vulnerable youth a practical pathway toward dignity, income and independence. Through hands-on tailoring training, entrepreneurship skills and starter kits, participants will be prepared to seek employment or establish small businesses serving local needs such as school uniforms, workwear, clothing repairs and custom garments. By creating opportunities for young people to earn a living, the project also seeks to reduce their vulnerability to harmful social influences, substance abuse, petty crime and other forms of social instability.
We are currently in the preparation and resource-mobilization phase, including the identification of qualified trainers and potential learners. The project has a total funding goal of US$80,000, and US$0 has been raised so far. We are being transparent about this funding gap because we believe our donors deserve to know exactly where the project stands. Our collaboration with GlobalGiving gives us an important opportunity to reach international supporters and move closer to the resources required to begin full implementation.
We sincerely thank GlobalGiving and everyone who has shown interest in this initiative. We now invite donors, foundations, organizations and individuals around the world to join us in investing in the potential of these young people. A contribution today can help turn a young person's idleness into a skill, a skill into an income, and an income into a more secure future for an entire family. Together, we can help young people move from dependence to productivity and from uncertainty to hope.
