Tshidi Matshidiso has started her elementary teacher training at Indaba training center in Stellenbosch, SA all because of the wonderful donations you made.
This is an intensive training program lead by AMI certified trainers. Matshidiso will study Montessori principles, elementary topics of education, write papers, take multiple exams and finally do a practicum, before she becomes a certified Montessori elementary teacher. It will take her many months of intensive study and dedication.
Once completed, Matshidiso will return to Zama Montessori Centre in Benoni, SA where she'll become the primary elementary teacher. Her training and subsequent teaching will have a profound impact on the children in her classes over her career. As described in our initial request for donations, Zama Montessori Centre is located in a severely under-resourced community to the east of Johanesburg, SA where fetal alcohol syndrome, drug and alcohol abuse and hopelessness are rampant. Matshidiso will work with those children who having completed at least some of the 3-6 Montessori curriculum to extend their emotional, intellectual, and physical growth, perhaps leading some of them, once they leave school, to become self-supporting members of their community and helping to lift Benoni out of its abject poverty.
Yes, we need your continued financial support for this effort, but we thank you profoundly for your gifts. You too have made a big impact on an under-resourced community.
