Art and leisure allow Colombian children to create

By Melissa Acosta | Communications Manager

Thinking of promoting the participation of children, girls, teenagers and young women from Medellin City in playful and artistic activities through those they can use to discover and exercise their power as peace builders, Mi Sangre made activities such as dances, break dances, stencil, cinema, and theatre in different spaces of the city, as in la Mega Ludoteca de Caicedo, la I.E. Ciudad  Don Bosco, El parque Biblioteca de Belén, la I.E. La Huerta , la UVA San Pablo, and others, during the season of school vacations.

The participants of the meetings began to demolish their imagination giving life to diverse artistic products. Using the skills of the stencil use and with the phrase "  Think, act and generates new values to live and coexist ", the young students of la I.E. La Huerta painted a mural in which they expressed their feelings and emotions.

Other of the results of these two weeks of meetings was the accomplishment of a shortfilm inspired by the early age pregnancies and rejection to the homosexuality. Boys and girls of la I.E. Rosalía Suárez detected these topics as the problematic most frequent in their neighborhood, and decided to create an audio-visual product that could show their point of view opposite to these subject matters.

71 children took part of this project, girls, teenagers and young women, who were added to the 869 that made part of the project this semester.
