Raimundo is the 19 year son of a couple from a very poor region located in the North of Brazil. Following family problems, his father sent him to São Paulo some years ago to live with relatives. Raimundo then found a poorly paid job. He had no education.
One day, a working companion showed him a flyer of ADAE. At this moment, influenced by friends, Raimundo woke up to the possibility of studying. He very quickly became aware that without some sort of study or training, he wouldn´t be able to progress in life. That´s when he started our Human Resources Assistant Course and, at the same time, went back to school to finish high school.
“Thanks to ADAE, I became conscious that if I studied, I would be able to become a better person”
Raimundo now works at a Pizza restaurant and is simultaneously following ADAE´s Purchasing Assistant course. He has rented a room in a Favela. He intends to finish High School and would like one day to start College.
But for the time being, his first goal is to gather some money and go visit his parents whom he misses a lot.
Thanks to your generous donations and to the help of all our volunteers and teachers, we are seeing more and more stories similar to this one.
2017 has started, and we are now going at cruising speed.
Brazil is still in a severe recession and unemployment is at a record high. We received an amazing number of applications and unfortunately we will not be able to help everyone due to the lack of physical space. But we are very happy that ADAE is now well known and respected in the neigborhood.
Our struggle to fund our initiative continues. It is even harder to find funds because of the current recession.
Thank you so much for yoiur support!
