Despite the proven benefits, in Mozambique less than 4% of young children (aged three to five) have access to some sort of preschool? In rural areas, the percentage is less than 1% -even though this is where the need is the highest! The Mozambique School Lunch Initiative aims to change this by training women to become preschool teachers in their local communities. Not only will this create opportunities for kids to get a head start, it will also empower women with quality employment.
