Train 20 Women to Make Soap & Prevent Trafficking

Doing More Research!

As an organisation, we know that in order to acheive our goal of ending child trafficking in Ghana's fishing industry we have to do more than rescuing and rehabilitating children who have been trafficked. We must do more to address the root causes of trafficking; why might a family feel compelled to send their child away? Poverty is frequently cited at the main driving factor, which is why we have started our economic empowerment programmes.

Right now, our field team in Senya is doing some market research around hosting a soap training. Bernice, our main contact in Senya, has been informally talking with women in the area to find out what they think about the training, how it would be most useful for them, and if they would be interested in participating. We want to make sure that the work that we are doing is in line with what the community wants and finds most helpful, and we've gotten some good feedback about this project.

In addition to your support of this project, our grants team is hard at work to find additional funding and other forms of support. They have been able to secure a trainer from a local soap making company in Accra who will donate their time and expertise, which we are very excited about.
