This project will enable the purchase of high-impact tools - 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and computers - and will support the training of local facilitators. We aim to establish an innovation room and a maker space, focused on developing skills for over 3,000 underprivileged girls and women, while also contributing as an innovative solution to a public education system with extremely limited resources.
APUSA operates in rural communities in southern Brazil, promoting the education of girls and women through the integration of technology, community engagement, and innovative pedagogical methodologies. Since 2012, more than 2,200 girls and women have been impacted. However, despite the positive impact, APUSA faces challenges such as limited connectivity, cultural resistance to female education, and a lack of technological resources.
With an Innovation Room and a Maker Space serving the expanded area of Santo Antonio and surrounding rural municipalities, we will reach 3,000 underserved girls and women, expanding our impact and reducing barriers. The project will offer, in addition to technological resources and a learning environment, hands-on workshops in digital fabrication, AI, and language learning, focusing on practical and employable skills for girls and women of different ages.
The budget of US$100,000 covers infrastructure, basic equipment (computers, projectors, 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, etc.), program coordination, and training. Partnerships with universities and local sponsors will support long-term use by offering courses and workshops, with the potential to develop talents and employable skills for over 6,000 girls and women within two years.
