Track Academy is a sport for Social Change Charity. We provide professional athletics training and mentoring to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our TAI17 event provides olympic style competition for our student-athletes and inspiration from international athletes from London and around the world.
Brent is one of the most disadvantaged places in London, with one of the highest rates of knife crime. Many of the young people do not have resources to build successful lives outside of the circumstances into which they were born. At Track Academy, we attend over 400 young people a year and put on Olympic style events to inspire and attract greater numbers of youth to our ranks, helping them off the streets. We reduce crime, increase academic output and teach resilience through sport.
We provide athletics training, one to one mentoring along with academic lessons. We use sport as a tool to attract young people, then provide a positive environment in which they can thrive. Our annual invitational - TAI17 - will provide one of the best platforms through which we impact the community and bring more young people into our ranks.
Track Academy have had many successes over the past seven years of activities, including sending student-athletes to national and international competitive events. We have also had many students making it to university due to our academic and mentoring programme. Our plan is to be able to attract an additional 100 student-athletes into our programme this year and continue to impact our community positively.
