Your Compassion Continues to Save Lives in Turkiye-Thank You!

By Pinar Ozyurek | Director of Philanthropy

Dear TPF Donors,

Thanks to your generous support, countless animals across Turkey have been seen, heard, and cared for. Your contribution to TPF’s Street Animal Fund helped us raise over $7,000.

With our first grant of approximately $5,000, our partner Dört Ayakli Sehir was able to make a significant and lasting impact in their mission to protect and uplift vulnerable street animals. With this grant, Dört Ayakli Sehir actively protected the rights and welfare of street animals in Turkiye amid heightened legal vulnerabilities. The organization implemented emergency interventions, focusing on animals impacted by the 2023 earthquakes through the “From Ruins to Life” program. Its “Rescue My Companion” campaign expanded awareness, neutering 543 at-risk animals, providing medical care, and facilitating rehoming for those affected by abuse and violence. Distribution of over two tones of food supported animals in urban and rural areas in 20+ cities, especially during winter. Emergency treatments targeted infections, parasites, and respiratory illnesses, with veterinary clinics providing ongoing care. Public awareness campaigns on key animal rights days (World Animal Day, World Cat Day), social media outreach, and educational events fostered community engagement. Collaborations with municipalities, NGOs, and volunteers strengthened advocacy. Disaster preparedness included first-aid kits and solidarity events combining animal rescue with community support, promoting a deeper connection between humans, animals, and nature through organized walks and ecological trips. Overall, these efforts advanced animal protection, recovery, and community involvement across Turkiye.

In August, we're getting ready to send a second grant to Dort Ayakli Sehir to be used for supporting the Rescue My Companion project. With this support, our partner aims to rescue, neuter, vaccine and rehome street dogs from five high-risk rural neighborhoods in Pendik Istanbul, where animals are particularly vulnerable due to a lack of services, visibility, and protection. Once the grant is sent and used we will share more detailed information about its impact.

With your compassion and unwavering support, TPF’s Street Animal Fund has achieved remarkable strides in enhancing the well-being of animals across Turkiye. Thank you all!

With deepest gratitude,

Team TPF
