Project Millionaire is an organizational campaign to educate 1,000,000 youth throughout Washington, DC by 2024 for healthy financial decisions that will impact their college bound and professional careers.
American twenty-somethings hold $45,000 in debt on average, and 60% of them say they're concerned about it. (Source: PNC Bank) Financial problems have reached epidemic proportions in our country, a crisis that causes major problems at both the community and national levels. Financial issues contribute to a variety of troubles many people face today: from crushing debt to retirement shortfalls. And the stress associated with financial issues can have devastating emotional impact on our youth.
Project Millionaire's campaign to educate 1,000,000 youth throughout Washington, DC by 2024 will improve our youth's financial health and well-being while impacting their college bound and professional careers. The project gains to help reduce current racial gaps in unemployment and income in relation to variances in education and economic status. It also looks to expose the necessary information that is important for youth to learn in order to change their financial outcomes.
1)Increased knowledge, skills, and abilities of personal financial management (i.e. Credit Score, Insurance, Credit Cards, etc.) which will lead to ensure financial Independence. 2)Increased facilitation and public speaking skills, workshop planning abilities, and community engagement/organizing skills. 3)Developed empathy for people whose financial experiences may differ from their own (i.e. homeless, previously incarcerate individuals, and others challenged with financial independence).
