Tools change lives

By Elizabeth Arsenault | Project Leader

Trick-or-Treat for Tools
Trick-or-Treat for Tools

The refurbished tool donations sent to DR have already been put to great use. Students in the three-year vocational training program are issued their own Tools For Empowerment kit to use during their course of study. Book learning is helpful, but expertise in carpentry, cabinet making, electrical, masonry, building, plumbing and metal fabrication is only achieved with "hands-on-tools-time"; thru real-world experience.  Upon successful graduation - students will be awarded these tools. We look forward to sharing pictures of these students ASAP.

Some of the large equipment donations are used to build the capacity of the training center where the students learn their trade. The air compressors, pictured here, received honorable mention and were greatly appreciated; Thanks to the hard work of volunteers, the cleaned & repaired compressors looked and worked like new. Many of these tools were donated during the annual Trick-or-Treat for Tool drive. When churches, schools and community groups collect Tools For Empowerment.
