Because of your support, today Philipi has a job and can provide for his wife and young son. He was so proud when he received a cabinetmaking certification from Foyer Lakay Training Center in Port au Prince. The three year course, offered at this home for street kids, was tough Philipi recalls. There were times when he didn't think it was possible. But he pushed through and eagerly seached for work. Today he is very grateful for his job and his tools. Many of his friends are still unemployed because, without their own tools, most empoloyers will not even grant job seekers an interview.
To date, volunteers have refurbished 9,943 tools for young craftsmen like Philipi. Trade tools for builders, carpenters, electritians, farmers, masons, machinists, plumbers and seamstresses. Today these tools are helping transform the lives of vocational school graduates in Haiti. Because of your support for Tools For Empowerment - tools that were destined for the landfills in the US - are giving new life and hope to families in Haiti.
