Focusing on free schools, we aim to guarantee and expand the growth and rights of children and young people who do not attend school, create and develop child-centered education, and realize diverse learning and society.
Tokyo Schule was established by parents and citizens as a place to stay and learn for children outside the school in 1985, when the number of children who refused to attend school or did not attend school increased dramatically. With the strong tendency to deny school refusal and return to school, we respect children's feelings, support diverse growth, and expand the circle of child-centered learning and activities, saying that school is not the only place for children to grow.
Although it is a coined word of children, there are the words "Semaben" and "Hiroben". "Semaben in a narrow sense" means studying subjects. "Study in a broad sense (Hiroben)" is to learn in daily life, such as experiences, encounters with people, and self-determination in life. The characteristic of Tokyo Schule is that "Hiroben" is important. Class hours are set up for basic learning in every space. You can also create time for individual learning according to each child's academic ability.
At the free school, we will learn through an environment where people of different ages can spend and grow together, various experiences, and encounters with people and society. There is "real learning" there. There are also training camps and events that are held jointly by the space. We also provide basic learning, high recognition, and career support according to each person's pace.
