The Tech & Smart Farming Across 10 Schools in Nigeria project is designed to empower students and youth by equipping them with practical agronomic knowledge, digital skills, and innovative approaches to agriculture. The initiative directly addresses one of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges, food insecurity, while also tackling youth idleness and the lack of market relevant skills that prevent many young people from reaching their full potential.

Key Achievements so far:

  • Partnerships: We have secured the commitment of partners such as plowAfrika, who will provide technical agronomic training to school agricultural clubs, strengthening both knowledge and practice.

  • Selection Criteria: Clear guidelines have been drafted to identify schools that can maximize impact and ensure the most efficient use of time and resources invested.

  • School Engagement: With schools resuming after the third term break, we are now positioned to begin onboarding new schools and formalizing agreements through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

  • Readiness Assessment: Initial inquiries confirm that schools are open and receptive to this form of engagement, creating a strong foundation for successful implementation.

Next Steps:

  • Roll out onboarding sessions for the first batch of selected schools.

  • Launch agronomic training workshops in collaboration with partners, targeting the second term.

  • Establish functional student-led smart farming clubs to drive sustainability and peer learning.

Impact Vision:
Through this project, we aim not only to build agricultural and digital skills in students but also to inspire them to see agriculture as a viable, innovative, and profitable career path. By ensuring hands-on learning, collaboration, and entrepreneurship, the project will create long term value for schools, communities, and Nigeria’s food system.
