Tech Innovators and Smart-Farming for Future Leaders Project aims to empower school students in sustainable agriculture by establishing smart farmers and innovation clubs in secondary schools. Students co-create sustainable solutions like soilless farming and hydroponics, blending science with hands on practice. This collaboration boosts innovation, home gardening, and community food security, while training young ambassadors to promote sustainable agriculture from classroom to household.
There are currently about 13.5 million students enrolled in Nigeria's secondary education system, yet a majority of them lack access to sustainable agricultural practice and innovation platforms. Assessments by the Ministry of Education and development partners, many schools lack the infrastructure, tools, and curricula to support smart farming education, disconnecting youth from real world agricultural sustainable approaches. TISFuL will enhance over 300 students with sustainable skills
The TISFuL Project will equip secondary school students in Kano and Kaduna with hands on training in smart and urban agriculture. Through Junior Engineers and Technicians (JET) clubs, students will learn to cultivate crops using sack farming, hydroponics, and other modern techniques. They will also receive mentorship in innovation and leadership, enabling them to design local & sustainable agricultural solutions. Schools will receive seeds, seedling trays, and technical support.
The TISFuL Project will build a generation of youth skilled in smart agriculture and innovation. Students will gain practical experience that prepares them for careers in agri-tech collaboration and sustainability. Schools will sustain gardens that improve nutrition and reduce food costs. The project fosters leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovative skills, creating long term community impact through knowledge sharing and increased household engagement in home gardening.
