The Sedoo Initiative for Children with Special Needs- SECHILD is a not for profit, community-driven development and non-governmental charity organization (NGO) that provides residence care and physio/occupational therapies for Children, parents/ caregivers of Children with Cerebral Palsy.
During the period under review, 15 children had sessions on physio/occupational, expressive and speech at SECHILD Center improving mobility as 3 of these children who were completely immobile can seat with assistance. The others children have their muscles relaxing and the stffness in their limbs easing progressively.
Though we had an emergency during one of these therapy sessions, the bone on the thigh of one the children cracked and the child has been admitted in Garki Hospital in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory and booked for surgery, the project is progress is progressing satisfactorily.
Under this period, 10 Parents 50 Parents and 7 Caregivers’ capacity has been strengthened on basic therapies and the use of adjustment of treatment plans and are providing basic home based therapy supporting residence care for these children and helping to mitigate the impact of Cerebral Palsy.
The project is providing residence care, rehabilitation for 50 indigent children with Cerebral Palsy, enhancing their quality of and further mitigating the physiological and financial strain on 50 indigent parents who cannot afford these services. Without this project these children are at risk of either being buried alive or drowned due to the challenge of providing care services.
