The World Transplant Games Federation

By Kim Renyard | CEO

Thanks to your continued support, the World Transplant Games Federation has made significant progress over the past six months in using sport, education and advocacy to celebrate transplantation, support transplant recipients and promote the importance of organ donation around the world.

One of our most significant achievements has been the launch of the WTGF's own registration system. For the first time, the Federation now owns and manages its own registration platform, providing greater flexibility, improved services for our members and athletes, and a more sustainable long-term solution for future events.

We have continued to expand our successful wellness webinar programme, delivering a series of online educational events covering topics that matter most to our community. Recent webinars have included combined wellness sessions, a dedicated women's webinar focusing on menopause after transplantation, and a men's health webinar addressing sexual health and wellbeing following transplant. These sessions continue to provide practical advice, expert guidance and opportunities for transplant recipients to connect with one another.

Preparations are well underway for the 2026 Transplant Football World Cup, which will take place this September in Frankfurt, Germany. We are delighted to have expanded the tournament to 16 international teams and will also host our first-ever Women's Showcase Football Event, representing another important milestone in creating more sporting opportunities for female transplant recipients.

Planning for future World Transplant Games has also been a major focus. During this reporting period, our inspection teams visited Rotterdam, Netherlands and Vancouver, Canada as part of the selection process for the 2029 World Transplant Games, working closely with both bidding organisations to evaluate their proposals and ensure the highest standards for future Games.

At the same time, we completed a detailed inspection visit to Leuven, Belgium, where we continue to work closely with the Local Organising Committee in shaping and developing the 2027 World Transplant Games, ensuring athletes and supporters can look forward to another outstanding international event.

Alongside these major projects, we have continued to share inspiring stories through our social media channels, promoting the achievements of transplant recipients, encouraging healthier lives after transplantation, and raising awareness of the life-saving importance of organ donation.

None of this would be possible without your generosity. Your support enables us to educate, inspire and connect the global transplant community while creating life-changing sporting opportunities for transplant recipients of all ages and abilities.

Thank you for helping us continue to demonstrate that transplantation is not the end of a journey—it is the beginning of a new one.
