The academic is just about to start in Government Schools in Karnataka. We were in touch with the Department of Education to gain permission to conduct training using technology. We had two challenges in terms of launching the Teacher Impact Project as proposed. One, we found it difficult to identify a viable technology platform to deliver training. Most of the platforms we identified were hardware intense and therefore required huge investment. Two, when we identified a platform, we did not get the required permission from the government to go ahead with the same. However, we have permission from the government to do the project face to face at two locations. We have identified Yadgiri and Haveri in North Karnataka to deliver the programme. Currently we are initiating a baseline study in these two regions to understand the quality of teaching learning in schools. 120 teachers (60 from each location) will participate in the project. Apart from delivering the proposed set of workshops, TTF will also provide teachers two rounds of one on one support, after observing them in classrooms. Both the baseline study and one-on-one support given to teachers will be compared, using a classroom observation checklist that allows TTF to understand the quality of teaching. This will help us understand the impact of the project.
