Hello Global Giving supporters! The Sustainable Culinary School continues to reach new heights as it helps transform the lives of its students.
As you know, the Sustainable Culinary School – along with all of MSMCBJ’s projects – serves Fortaleza’s most vulnerable residents and empowers them to break the cycle of poverty and its accompanying ills. MSMCBJ recognizes that the students who come to the Sustainable Culinary School are not here just to learn how to cook, but also to boost their self-esteem, their sense of purpose, to build healthy community, and to be able to provide for their families. The students bring with them years of trauma, abuse, and social isolation.
With that bigger picture in mind, the Sustainable Culinary School has now expanded its vision to be “Culinary Arts and Therapy: The Kitchen As a Place of Healing.” This vision means seeing the school as a therapeutic program for its students, who are learning culinary skills as a way of healing various mental and emotional afflictions. Holistic treatment is our goal, and you help make that happen!
Thanks for your continued support, and please enjoy the photos of our students showing off their delicious wares.
In solidarity,
