Challenge

Agriculture is considered the backbone of Thailand since the old days considering the country's richness in natural biodiversity, fertile land, environment, and tropical climate. Approximately 43 percent of Thailand's total land area is deployed for agricultural activities, and almost one-third of the country's labor force is working in the sector. Globally, the concept of smart agriculture relies on intelligent technology, digital equipment, and innovations.

Solution

."The SCALE model", the Science-Based School Farming for Sustainability. This model focuses on a flexible designing and learning process which is adjustable according to the local context. Five steps of the model, include; 1) Situation Analysis, 2) Coding to farm, 3) Action, 4) Learning and 5) Expansion. The education of a Science-Based School Farming for Sustainability will help the family to have food resources and it is also bonding activity for the family and community.

Long-Term Impact

1. 5 schools will be established as a learning hub with at least 2 qualified moderators in each school.2. At least 3 students per school could be able to lead smart farming in their communities. 3.A community mechanism on sustainable food security is established, including a community committee and the green market. More qualified young farmers and community people enter the smart farming, creating a sustainable food security and a secure community
