Twenty years ago, the tragic events of 9/11 changed the world and took the lives of some 3,000 people. Amid the heartache, a group of friends and family who lost loved ones started the Safer World Fund with the vision of creating a more peaceful and equitable world. The Fund promotes education, health care, and economic opportunity, especially for women and girls in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Education, health care, and economic opportunity counter the influence of extremists in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other countries by weakening their base of community support. Help us build a world in which the appeal of lives lived in dignity, opportunity, and hope triumphs over extremism.
The Fund's current focus is education, health, and development projects in Afghanistan and Pakistan, especially projects for girls and women. This will help build community support for marginalized groups and foster better connection and well-being for community members.
Over the past 12 years, the Safer World Fund and related campaigns have raised more than $2 million to support organizations especially focused on women and girls in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Promoting grassroots development projects allows the appeal of lives lived in dignity, opportunity, and hope to triumph over extremism.
