In 2024, we saw the ongoing impact of our 2022 investigative report " Debt Traps, Modern Slavery, Shattered Dreams: Illegal Recruitment of International Students in Taiwan’s Technical University System" The former Vice President of Chung Chou University of Science and Technology was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in the first trial. Finally, the wrongdoers were held accountable by the law. Our report " The Sexual Predators Among Us: Cracking Down on Taiwan’s ‘Child-Hunting Industry’" sparked huge public concern, prompting action from various groups to protect children’s rights.
Our book "The Island Chain Crisis" has also become an important reference for experts thinking about regional security. These ongoing responses to our reports strengthen our belief in the real impact journalism can have.
As The Reporter, a public media in Taiwan, none of this would have been possible without your support.
