The Reporter is Taiwan's first nonprofit media organization, independent from political, commercial, and advertising influences, funded solely by public donations. We focus on investigative journalism, addressing long-term, often overlooked social issues like children's rights, human rights, education, and poverty.
In Taiwan's media landscape, profit-driven motives dominate, leading to sensationalist "clickbait" and content farms that deliver fragmented, context-free news. Many outlets blur the lines between news and advertising due to government and corporate influences, compromising their independence and the quality of journalism. This environment not only distorts public understanding but also exploits journalists, further eroding the integrity of news reporting.
We focus on in-depth reportage and investigative journalism, publishing our works on an open-source website and transforming them into formats like podcasts and videos to achieve greater impact. To uphold the independence of our reporting, we do not accept donations from government or political figures. We invite you to contribute to our work, enabling us to continue delivering high-quality, independent journalism. Your support is essential for sustaining our efforts and broadening our impact.
Through verified and accurate information, our investigative reporting illuminates public issues and provides diverse perspectives. We strive to influence governance and drive social change.
