“The Hub” is a project conceived to provide a Youth-Space for Slum dwellers In Abuja. The Project was to provide a facility in Mabushi where 200 underserved youths from Mabushi Village and other urban slums in Abuja will be trained in computer and entrepreneurial skills with a focus on digital Jobs.
Following Youth Foundation for development, Education and Leadership’s(youthhubafrica) participation in the September 2015 GlobalGiving Open Challenge, where we were able to raise just 400 USD, YFDEL commenced training activities in Dutse Baupma, Garki, Maitama, Kuje and Deidei all in Abuja.
The ICT training focused on providing young girls and women with basic ICT skills using the Intel Easy Step Curriculum. Some of these women do not have any experience with using the computer, even the school girls too mostly lack basic ICT skills.
The Training
Dutse Baupma Training: The training at Dutse Baupma took place at RCCG Everlasting Joy Hall on the 24th of October 2015. The courses taught include Introduction to Computer, Emailing, Internet, Microsoft Word, Multimedia, Microsoft Excel and Entrepreneur.

Deidei Training: The training at Deidei took place at RCCG Chariot of Fire on the 31st of October 2015. The courses taught include Introduction to Computer, Emailing, Internet, Microsoft Word, Multimedia, Microsoft Excel and Entrepreneur.

Garki Training: The two day training in Garki took place at Government Science and Technical College Garki on the 22nd of October 2015. The courses taught include Introduction to Computer, Emailing, Internet, Microsoft Word, Multimedia, Microsoft Excel and Entrepreneur.
A total of 98 school girls where trained.
In all, the mobile training program from the Hub successfully trained 330 young women and girls and this cost YFDEL a total sum of $834(Eight Hundred and Thirty Four US Dollars)
Challenges
The training conducted so far where done with rented laptops. This in itself is a great challenge and does hinder the number of people that can be served and the number of days that can be dedicated to each set of participants. Also, the Hub was meant to provide training for the beneficiaries in a place set up for that purpose-the youth space, but due to unavailability of basic equipment, furniture etc which is also caused by the unavailability of fund, the youth space as it where is not usable for training.
Appreciation
We express our profound appreciation to all those who donated to the project both in kind and in cash. We also immensely thank the institutions who partnered with us to ensure that we train public school girls. We will continue to work to train young underserved Nigerians to gain ICT skills.
Conclusion
Finally, we employ all our donors to keep the support coming to be able to actualise the dream of a youth space in Mabushi, Abuja.
