Summary

Everyone knows that every child has the right to an education, but the thousands of orphaned children in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) often find themselves without assistance, risking their lives and losing all hope for the future. In developing this project, we are determined to provide school equipment, food, school transport and free education to 150 orphaned students in the DRC. We are determined to support these children and offer them a better future.

Challenge

The Democratic Republic of Congo DRC accounts for 32% of the total number of orphans. This situation risks depriving these children of a precious commodity: education, as poor foster families are no longer able to cover their basic needs. Some suffer from malnutrition, while others take to the streets and mining careers to enrich their lives while enduring hars. These children risk lacking the confidence and knowledge needed to protect themselves and prepare for a fulfilling and productive life.

Solution

It is certain that this project will continue and produce other activities and effects in the future. Children who have no hope of going to school will find access to education. Here, orphaned children who have not had the chance to go beyond the primary school leaving certificate will be able to attend secondary school or university with the help of the project. This will give them the literacy and numeracy skills they need to open up professional opportunities in the future.

Long-Term Impact

Providing educational assistance to orphaned children means giving them the chance to get involved and chart a course for their future. We reintegrate them into the education system and offer them vocational training to give them the skills they need to cope with working life. This enables them to earn a decent income and improve their quality of life without depending on outside help. We will support them until they become independent in their future lives.
