Reactivate The Henry Ford

By Caroline Heise | Annual Fund Specialist

One year ago today, we announced the closing of all public venues at The Henry Ford due to the spread of COVID-19. At the time, we stated that we would stop public operations for one week and reevaluate this decision on March 18.

No one had any idea we would be closed for almost 16 weeks and that when we did reopen on July 2, we would have to operate at reduced capacities. We simply knew we had to dig in and move through this unprecedented time in our history, and that with every decision made, we had to put the health and safety of our people — our staff, our volunteers, students and guests — first.

Americans have always been resilient. We can simply look at the stories within The Henry Ford's collection for example after example of perseverance, collaboration, taking risks and learning from failure to prove we can do anything if we are unwavering in our vision and mission.

We are grateful for the team at The Henry Ford and for the surrounding community we serve. We have received so many letters, texts and emails filled with genuine concern and encouragement for our institution's continued growth and success.

We continue to reactivate our institution and build back the business to be as strong as ever. We are still that place where future inventors and innovators can see themselves creating a better, brighter tomorrow.

Thank you for standing with us this year. Your support and generosity mean the world to us.
