The Ripple Effect

By Emma Peadon | Senior Fundraising Executive

At Pestalozzi, education has never been only about academic success.

Inspired by the philosophy of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, we believe education should develop character, compassion, and responsibility toward others.

That belief continues long after students leave our campuses.

Today, our global network of more than 2,700 alumni includes leaders, entrepreneurs, healthcare workers and changemakers across the world. More than 70% give back to their communities, and over 50 NGOs have been founded, or are led, by Pestalozzi alumni.

Here are some of their stories, showing how their opportunities are carried forward.

Zambia - The Courage to Lead Early

At 19, Blessings is helping create something many young people in Zambia have never been offered: a space to be heard.

Having joined Pestalozzi in Grade 5, she grew up learning that leadership does not begin with a title, it begins by listening, noticing, and standing beside others.

As she grew older, Blessings saw how many young people around her were struggling silently with pressure at home, identity, and mental health challenges.

She decided that silence needed somewhere to go.

Today, she is the founder of Let’s Talk Zed Youth Network, a youth-led platform creating safe spaces for young people across Zambia to speak openly, support one another, and know they are not alone.

At just 19, Blessings is not only finding her own voice, she is helping a generation believe theirs matters too.

India - Carrying Care Across Continents

Raised within the Tibetan community in India, Dechen grew up with a strong sense of identity, resilience, and the realities of life in exile.

At Pestalozzi, living alongside young people from across the world helped shape how she saw herself and the contribution she wanted to make.

“We were all leaders because we supported each other, we learned from each other, and we showed up for one another.”

Today, Dechen is studying in a dual-degree nursing programme in Canada, training in hospitals and clinical placements while learning what it means to care for people during their most uncertain moments.

One day, she hopes to return to her local hospital in India, the place that first inspired her to pursue nursing, bringing back the knowledge and experience she has gained abroad.

Your support helps young people like Dechen carry care, skills, and opportunity back to the communities that shaped them.

Nepal - Building Opportunities That Last

After studying at Princeton University, Prabha could have built her future anywhere in the world.

Instead, she chose to invest her experience back into Nepal.

During a fellowship with Daayitwa Nepal, she worked alongside women entrepreneurs whose resilience reshaped her understanding of leadership and opportunity.

Her journey later took her into clean energy innovation at AES Corporation and to becoming an Obama Foundation Scholar.

Then in 2021, alongside fellow Pestalozzi alumna Chhiring, she co-founded Aakar Nepal - a fellowship supporting young people to identify challenges in their own communities and lead solutions themselves.

Today, young people across Nepal are discovering that leadership does not belong to a select few.

It grows wherever opportunity is shared.

Every student’s journey begins with one opportunity.

But the true impact of that opportunity is measured in the lives they go on to change.

Across generations and across the world, Pestalozzi alumni continue carrying opportunity forward, strengthening communities, creating solutions, and opening doors for others.

Thank you for making that possible.
