Aasra which literally translates into 'safe haven'was the first shelter home started by SBT. Lodged
in the by-lanes of Paharganj, Aasra bustles with activity from the crack of dawn till the stars are
up… as we believe that an idle mind is the devil's workshop!!! With a capacity for 50 boys (between
five to 18 years of age), it is a short stay home i.e. children stay her for minimum a week to six
months. In the interim, all efforts are channelized towards finding his family. In case it is untraceable
or non-restorable, the concerned boy is referred to a suitable long stay home.
During the short stay period, each boy is given the opportunity to enjoy his basic rights to food,
education, shelter, and safety. They can relish the innocence of childhood through the innumerable
activities carried out by Asra team to keep them engaged. Non Formal Education (NFE) classes are
taken and all boys are provided medical and health care and four meals a day.
