Ethiopia faces a critical skills gap. "The Bridge" is a national initiative designed to close this education-employment divide. Through the publication and training rollout of a transformative guidebook, this project will equip 1,000 educators and leaders with the mindset, tools, and strategies to lead the shift toward a skills-based, job-ready Ethiopia. By 2031, 10,000 copies of The Bridge will reach schools and TVET institutions, catalyzing thousands of success stories in youth employability
TVET is often viewed as a "last resort," causing talent loss in technical sectors. Students and parents lack awareness of viable vocational careers. Career guidance in schools is theoretical and disconnected from job markets. Ethiopia's economy faces a shortage of skilled mid-level technicians ("the missing middle").
Our Solution Over 5 years, The Bridge project will: Publish and distribute 10,000 copies of The Bridge Guidebook. Train 1,000 TOT educators in all regions. Establish Career & Technical Education Units in 500 schools. Develop School-Industry Partnerships to ensure practical learning. Advocate nationally for a Skills-Based Ethiopia policy agenda.
Expected Long-Term Impact by 2031 10,000 schools and colleges equipped with The Bridge Guidebook. 1,000 trained facilitators leading mindset and curriculum transformation. 100,000 students benefit from improved career guidance and employability skills. Increased national enrollment and pride in TVET programs. Sustainable school-industry collaboration across six regions.
