Walking over 8 kilometers to go to school. For many students in the provinces of Catamarca and Tucuman (Argentina), that's the everyday life. This Minkai campaign aims at collecting funds to allow them to have a bike, and shorten their school journey. If you'd rather give a bike, it is a wonderful solution.
The lack of infrastructures and their poor state makes it difficult to reach school everyday. Indeed, the walk to the bus stop can sometimes take more than an hour. In addition to that, in case of extreme weather, it can be impossible to reach school. Therefore, helping students go to school as often as possible, is crucial.
Having a bicycle to get between the rural area where young people live and the school they attend can make the difference between attending and not being able to attend. It can save some precious minutes, or even hours, which is not negligible in a students' life. School is key to build a great future but so is spending time with their families and friends.
The bicycle could help a great deal of students go to school. Some who did not have the motivation due to the distance will not really have an excuse anymore. Others will have an easier daily routine and could focus on their life in general and not only school. If we are able to purchase five bikes, we will not only be helping five students. The impact will extend far beyond that, as this bicycles can serve many generations of students in the years to come.
