PROJECT UPDATE

All of us on the 10x10 team are excited to tell you that a lot has happened since you donated to our project, and it’s support like yours that has allowed us to get where we are today. We have tons to report for both the film production and the social action campaign, and will continue to give you updates as we move forward.

On the film side, we have brought onto our team an amazing producer named Martha Adams. Martha is an experienced producer, photographer, and storyteller who most recently worked on an international documentary about trafficking. You can visit her website at www.marthaadams.com. Martha and our director, Richard Robbins, will be travelling to Cambodia and Egypt in September and October to scout and find amazing stories.

We’ve also engaged two top-notch writers who will also be helping to select stories, and will ultimately write the girl’s story. Our Cambodian writer is Loung Ung, an inspiring woman who escaped from Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime when she was young. She wrote the best-selling memoir of her childhood and escape First They Killed My Father, and has been a tireless advocate for human rights. Our Egyptian writer is Dr. Nawal El Saadawi, one of the most respected stateswomen of Egyptian feminism, and a writer whose fiction and nonfiction have been translated into over 20 languages.

We’re excited to have both of them as part of the 10x10 team! And our other confirmed countries are Nigeria, South Africa, India, and Haiti. We’re actively booking writers from those countries, and will send you all updates as soon as we have names confirmed!

On the 10x10 action campaign side, things are moving at warp speed. We are working closely with Room to Read, World Vision, and CARE on structuring partnerships, so that the film we give them will be of tremendous value to their work in programs and in fundraising. We’re also in deep conversations with a number of Fortune 100 corporations who have the power and the exact kind of innovative thinking needed to make 10x10 something that everybody talks about, and whose message everybody knows.

None of this would have been possible without your help and support! So thank you all very much for giving us the opportunity to move forward with a project that we know will change the lives of millions of girls, and will help them rewrite the futures of their countries. And we’re thrilled to include you in a project that has never been done before: a feature film at the heart of an impactful global movement.

More updates to come. In the mean time, pass our project along to your friends and family, and tell them about the power that girls have to change the future! And let us know if you have any questions or comments.

Thanks again,

The 10x10 Team
