Back in 2014 Earl and Nakhane joined training4changeS as part of our first School Futsal Initiative group. Over the years both boys have grown into mature young changemakers, and are exemplary leaders in their communities. Support from the Reggie Meyer Education Fund has made it possible for the boys to access quality high school education at Calling Academy, where they are currently in grade 11. They both dream of becoming the first in their families to attend university, and thanks to their success on the field and in the classroom they are well positioned to turn their dreams into reality. There is a unique opportunity for them to attend a college identification soccer camp at Belhaven University later this month June, as well as visiting other universities in the USA with a view to getting a scholarship for the next steps in their academic careers.
We are so pleased that Earl, Nakhane, and Coach Steve have all received their USA visas, paving the way for their trip. During their trip they will visit Dallas, TX where there will be an exciting opportunity for them to spend time with friends and supporters of training4changeS.
These boys have grown up with t4c, so this will be an inspirational and engaging time of relationship building and storytelling with some of the people who have helped make it possible for them to grow into the amazing young changemakers they are today.
As these young changemakers go on the move this month, they are keenly aware that they are blazing a trails not only for their own futures and the benefit of their families, but also for many more training4changeS kids who will follow in their footsteps in the years ahead.
Thank you for your support and dedication which inspires these boys and their teammates to strive for greater heights.
