Migrant Children Stay Positive During Lockdown in Shanghai

By Catharine Gong | KidStrong Program Director

Knwon by the world, Shanghai experienced a two month lockdwon from this April to June. Actually students in Shanghai started learning from home as early as mid March. KidStrong recognized several important needs that migrant children have  and acoordingly initiated activities to help migrant children keep mental and physical health during the lockdown.

Activity 1: On line quiz on personal hygiene methods to help migrant children battle COVID.

Invite migrant students of KidStrong partner schools to participate in the on line quiz to win the prize.

Activity 2: Fun games to protect eye sight

Encourage the migrant studnets to do the games to protect their eye sight and have fun while learning from home. Please find the playing game video via links below:

Activity 4: On line parent-child eye sight protection workshop

Experts communicate with migrant parents and their children to answer eyesight and prescription eyeglasses related questions.

Activity 5: Food delivery

The lockdown plunged many migrant students' families into a dire situation. Confined to their small apartments, the students' parents had little or no income without a job while prices for necessities such as food had increased significantly. Upon hearing about the food shortage problems, KidStrong responded immediately by organizing food drives.

Please see the migrant families' responses on food delivery via link below:
