October 05, 2013 Social Development International (SDI) and The Girl Effect Fund of Global Giving USA, launched the International day of the Girl Child 2013 with 30 teenage mothers, their children, three international Volunteers, the Press, SDI executives, cross community members and invited guests in attendance. The day started at 10:00 AM with training sessions done by ILse from Netherlands, Fiona from England and Dida Rose a Gender and Women Empowerment Masters student from the University of Buea. Three training sessions were followed by Girl Child Post 2015 Development goals Declaration, Choral shetches, Debates,Drama, Role games with goals all centered on the Girl child Innovative and Inclusive Education, Health care, Ecomnomic Empowerment, Political Freedom, and Social Wellbeing. At 2:20PM the media community took over the day with series of interviews with teenage mothers representative, Volunteers, Community members and SDI Executive team.
The day ended with a dinner and a promise to champion the cause of the Girl Child innovative and inclusive Education in all frontiers at all cost.

Day's program:
The maiden celebration commenced at 11AM.
After the National Anthem, the welcome speech was closely follewed by the reading of the Girl Declaration which is a call to action to put Girls at the heart of the post 2015 development agenda. Seven selected Girls presented the declaration. Participant had lunch of snacks and drinks before coming back to the celebration Hall for socio-cultural and psycho-educayional activities. This activities included, singing, fashion parade, traditional dancing, debate and drama.
In our next report, Watch out for the opening of our Teenage Mothers Institute in Buea and the extention of the project to new communities in Tiko Sub division.
