Parents are a child's first and most important communication partner. When a child is deaf or hard of hearing, it can be difficult for parents to know if they are supporting their child's development in the best way possible.
The technology provided through your suppoort of this project will give parents a tried and tested tool to help them monitor, learn, and adjust their interactions to provide the best language environment for their child's listening and spoken language development.
These wearable tools can monitor how many words a child is hearing and how many vocalizations the child is making. In addition, it can help demonstrate how much turn-taking is happening.... a vital part of any rich language interaction. As vocabulary grows and turn-taking skills develop, a child is on the road to developing rich and powerful ways to communicate and learn. Thank you for your support!
