Remembering the project:
The program aims to combat digital illiteracy, dropout rates and lack of interest in school, inspiring vocations and bringing opportunities to talented students in the area of Robotics and Programming. The project also focuses on a work culture of social values and skills, bringing opportunities to young people and children with high skills, but in situations of social vulnerability and difficult access to Science and Technology.
After the successful participation in the SESI Off Season Robotics Festival, held at Marina da Glória, the robotics team continued with internal activities to improve and test the mechanisms of the robot used in the competitions, also carrying out maintenance and replacement of the necessary parts.
The activities for new students in the project involved basic knowledge alignment exercises, which were:
• Types of Motors: Students are introduced to the different types of motors used in robotics, such as electric motors, internal combustion engines, steam engines, among others. Emphasis may vary depending on the type of engine the class focuses on.
• Working Principles: Students learn how engines work, including concepts such as force and torque, principles of electricity and magnetism that are behind electric motors, internal combustion in explosion engines, etc.
• Engine Components: Students are introduced to the main components of an engine, such as the rotor, stator, transmission system (gears, belts, pulleys), control systems, sensors, and other related components.
• Speed and Direction Control: Classes covered how engines can be controlled in terms of speed and direction. This involves concepts such as PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), position feedback and PID control.
• Electrical Connection: Students learn how to connect and power electric motors, as well as the power, voltage, and current requirements associated with them.
• Applications in Robotics: The class covered how motors are used in robotics, including practical examples of how motors are integrated into robots to perform specific tasks.
And as happens every year, the team continues preparing for the next competitions.
