Introduction
W.TEC Academy, a pioneering co-curricular tech initiative by Women's Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC), is dedicated to empowering secondary school girls in Kwara, Ondo, and Lagos states. The program focuses on computer programming and mobile app development, aiming to foster increased female participation in technology and cultivate essential skills for the next generation of innovators.
Programme Implementation Across States
The second term of the W.TEC Academy recorded strong participation with a total of 595 girls enrolled across three states.
The support from Oracle enabled W.TEC Academy to successfully deliver hands-on training in digital literacy, coding, problem-solving, and STEM leadership.
International Day of Women & Girls in Science (IDWGS)
In celebration of the International Day of Women & Girls in Science (IDWGS), W.TEC hosted impactful events across three cities:
This year’s IDWGS celebration reached a total of 550 girls, inspiring them through workshops, talks, exhibitions, and practical tech activities.
The event was generously funded by IHS Towers, whose support continues to expand opportunities for girls in STEM nationwide.
