Introduction
The Tech Behind Bars Project is an innovative educational initiative aimed at addressing the learning and developmental needs of incacerated children aged 10-17. This project seeks to bridge the digital divide experience by children in correctional facilities by providing them with access to computer education and digital leteracy skills. In a rapidly evelving world where technology plays a pivotal role in nearly every aspect of life, equipping these children with computer skills is a vital step towards ensuring their successful reintegration into society.
Project Progress
After extensive consultations and meetings with the relevant authorities, we have successfully obtained three major correctional facilities for both boys and girls. These centers were selected based on their infrastructure, the number of incacerated children, and their management's readiness to intergrate educational programs aimed at rehabilitation. The approval proccess required us to demonstrate the value of digital literacy for the future reintergration of incacerated children and align the program with the broader goals of the correctional system. The Tech Behind Bars initiative is about more than just teaching computer skills, it's about providing hope, empowerment, and a future for incarcerated children. It's about showing them that despite their circumstances, they are not forgotten and that there is a path forward.
Challenges
Due to financial constraints, we are currently limited in our ability to provide the necessary equipments, training materials, and facilitators for the project. We believe that with the support of individuals and organizations, we can overcome these challenges and give these children the chance to build brighter futures.
Conclusion
The Tech Behind Bars initiative is about more than just teaching computer skills, it's about providing hope, empowerment, and a future for incarcerated children. It's about showing them that despite their circumstances, they are not forgotten and that there is a path forward.
