Tech Behind Bars is a transformative project aimed at empowering children aged 7-17 in remand homes across Nigeria with computer literacy skills. Through innovative teaching methods and engaging curriculum, the project seeks to bridge the digital divide and equip the children with essential skills for the future. By providing access to technology and training, we aim to improve their educational opportunities, enhance their employability, and break the cycle of poverty and incarceration.
Digital Divide:Many children in remand homes lack access to technology and digital skills, putting them at a disadvantage in a world increasingly reliant on technology Limited Opportunities:Without computer literacy skills, these children may face limited educational and employment opportunities, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and potential re-incarceration
The project tackles the problem by providing comprehensive computer literacy training to children in remand homes. Through engaging curriculum and hands-on learning, it equips them with practical skills in areas like basic computer operations, word processing, internet use, and programming basics. By bridging the digital divide, the project enhances their educational opportunities, increases their employability, and empowers them to break the cycle of poverty and incarceration.
The project has the potential to have a lasting impact by breaking the cycle of poverty and crime among children in remand homes. By equipping them with computer literacy skills, it increases their chances of securing employment and accessing higher education. This improves their individual prospects and benefits society by reducing recidivism rates and creating positive role models. Additionally, addressing the digital divide promotes a more equitable society with greater opportunities for all
