As members of Leadership Initiatives' (LI) International Internship Program, Team 24398 has been working with LI to research and learn about public health crises and potential solutions in Bauchi State, Nigeria. To transform lives, the team & LI are working to create a public health campaign to raise awareness and educate the people of Bauchi on these various public health issues.
Nigeria has multiple pressing public health issues due to insufficient access to clean water, the prevalence of communicable diseases, poverty, malnutrition, and limited healthcare resources. Team 24398 will work with the Nagari Maternity Ward & Medical Clinic to help address these concerns in Bauchi through a comprehensive approach that encompasses improved sanitation, healthcare accessibility, health education, and targeted efforts to enhance community resilience and well-being.
Leadership Initiatives' interns will play a crucial role in enhancing health outcomes in Bauchi, Nigeria. Students will develop and execute a public health campaign targeting health concerns in Bauchi by collaborating with medical professionals from the Nagari Medical Clinic. In this collaborative effort, interns will help with planning and fundraising to contribute to the successful launch and sustainability of these initiatives and work towards a healthier and more resilient Bauchi community.
By promoting educational health workshops and building community partnerships, interns will help foster a sense of ownership and responsibility, leading to a more resilient and self-sufficient healthcare ecosystem in rural communities. These efforts contribute to an overall improvement in the quality of life and well-being of the residents in Bauchi, Nigeria, leading to a healthier population with enhanced health outcomes.
