By Marshall Bailly & Lamar Academy Students | Executive Director
Dear Awesome Leadership Initiatives Donors,
Your donations will provide individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, the opportunity to form connections and address local issues using community resources. This will create a generation of leaders given the platform to encourage progress and determination starting at the local level but impacting more. Contributions from donors give promising individuals access to entrepreneurial, leadership, and project management training. These leaders then identify developmental obstacles within their communities, design practical solutions, and create sustainable business models to overcome those obstacles.
Our students create innovative solutions strongly revolving around the principles of social entrepreneurship. We have previously created businesses in Bauchi, Nigeria businesses: auto electric car business, tailoring, and most recently a barbershop. Currently, this project will help local business owners as they strive to maximize the profit and impact of their business. Not only will our students help impact these businesses but they will also help business owners progress when it comes to the essential needs of running a company.
IB Lamar Academy interns have partnered with Monday, the owner of Aljazeera barbing cut where he continues to give back to his community through the use of hair products, employing those in need, and building long term relationships with his customers. Currently, the Lamar Academy team is working hard to help raise funds in order to get him the products he needs to keep his business going while also teaching Umar about keeping track of funds, financials, and finances. Your encouragement of Lamar Academy interns and their project will truly help change lives across the globe, as this business not only provides crucial resources for the community but also creates critical job opportunities in the area.
