Dear Leadership Initiatives Donor,
First and foremost, thank you! Your donations will continue to empower individuals and communities across Bauchi State, Nigeria, allowing them to form connections and address local issues using community resources. Donors’ contributions have allowed Leadership Initiatives and their students to carry out their mission of improving the lives of victims of human rights abuses and create advocacy and awareness campaigns within the local community. The students in our program have been engaged in months of cultural immersion and have been building connections with our partners in Nigeria to accomplish the goal of fixing the imperative issues that each team is working on.
Our students have been working throughout the fall semester to create of brief specific to their issue. These briefs are the summation of the preliminary research they have done to gain a proper understanding of their advocacy issues and how they impact communities in Bauchi. Now that our students have completed this intensive research-based report, they are using the knowledge and skill gained to continue their work to transform lives all around Bauchi. Currently, this project will help raise awareness and create community programs to fight the lack of education for girls.
Barrington High School interns have been working with LI Project Coordinator Auwal to assess the current human rights violations surrounding the lack of education for girls in the area. They have had multiple Skype calls with their project coordinator to develop a relationship with them as well as go over vital information. Currently, the Barrington High School team is working hard to develop survey questions for the community to gain a better understanding of the perception of the lack of education for girls. They are also drafting a letter to the National Human Rights Council of Nigeria that outlines their human rights issue and the necessary steps that must be taken to solve it. Now that Team 1030 is equipped with your support and a deeper understanding of the lack of education for girls, they are moving forward on the path of raising awareness to fight it in Bauchi.
As a donor to this project, your support is an amazing thing to have as we attempt to transform lives. Everyone at Leadership Initiatives would love to have you more involved in our organization if you would ever be to help us grow our programs (or learn about other ways you can assist). Please contact Executive Director Marshall Bailly at mbailly@lichange.org if you have any suggestions, questions, or comments!
On behalf of everyone at Leadership Initiatives, thank you for everything that you have done. We all truly appreciate your donation and support for our organization. If you would ever like to speak to our staff in Nigeria or this specific project leader, we would love to communicate with you so you can personally see the change you are creating.
Gratefully,
Barrington High School IIP Team
