Thank you for your continued support in helping us create media that produces change!
Globally we’re facing unprecedented challenges to public health, environmental sustainability, and social equity. But when we work in true partnership with local communities, we can produce the urgent changes needed to improve the well-being of people and our planet. And your support helps make that happen.
In the Caribbean, 46% of women report having experienced at least 1 form of violence. #PlayYourPart, a campaign to address the root causes of violence against women and girls in the region, is participatory from design to implementation.
Co-designed with input from key audience members, experts, UNICEF, and the Spotlight Initiative, #PlayYourPart includes a music video, a dance challenge, and a mini-radio drama that incorporates key messaging in positive media to end violence. We worked with Caribbean artists like soca musician Teddyson John, reggae singer Nadine Sutherland, and spoken word artist Curmiah Lisette to bring the campaign to life.
“For me, more than speaking to the men and the boys, it’s also speaking to the young women as well. It’s teaching us how to own ourselves and teach people how to treat us,” says Curmiah Lisette.
#PlayYourPart launched this spring and is available for local partners and individuals everywhere to use and play their part in ending violence against women and girls in the Caribbean!
