Teaching Youths English Literacy Through Football

The condom distribution under the Safe Mtaani(neighborhood) campaign trail is now advancing into various youth entertainment joints,football training grounds and other football tournament fields across Nairobi including,Kangemi,Kariobangi,Jericho and now Ziwani.VAP has partnered with the organizaers of Koth Biro annual football tournament to distribute condoms during the matches and encourage youth to go for voluntary medical male circumcision.Koth Biro is one of the oldest and historical football tournaments that attracts over 80 youth teams from various corners of Nairobi including professional football players who play in Kenya's premier league who come to reconnect with their parental community clubs as they play in the tournament.

With this tournament being played during this holiday season when all organized football leagues have come to an end,VAP through their skillz coaches are busy distributing  condoms for free to the audience that includes fans,players and other interested individuals by making condoms more easily accessible to them.By doing so VAP is utilizing the football platform to prevent the spred of HIV and joining the world to reach the UNAIDS 90-90-90,an ambitious target to end Aids epidemic.By 2020,90% of all people living with HIV will to know their HIV status.By 2020,90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy.By 2020,90% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression."It's good for me to have a packet of condom to protect myself from HIV infection,just incase i decide to have sex." Said 18 years old Njagi.
