Dear friend,
A lot has happened in recent months, the new year has started and with new energy we started looking for new funds for this project. But unfortunately we have not succeeded in this yet, no new funds have become available yet. As a result, we have not yet been able to make the progress that we originally envisioned.
Of course, we will not stop looking for opportunities and we hope that in the coming months we will find new funds that can (partly) support this project, because we believe that it is necessary to make an impact in the poorest neighborhoods of Indonesia's capital . There where wealth and poverty are sometimes just a street away from each other. According to government figures, the capital has more than 500,000 people living below Indonesia's poverty line of Rp. 22,500 (US$1.44 per person per day). The number living just above this line in the Jakarta Capital District and the Greater Jakarta area is many times this number - and educational opportunities are a key factor in their struggle to escape poverty.
If you have connections who would like to support this project, would you please let us know? In this way we can equip more teachers and reach children in Jakarta's poorer communities.
Salam literasi,
Stuart Patience
