We have just completed 3 month follow up assessment of 14 children. Every child is showing a progress: all 14 children have developed self-help skill such as toilet training, dressing, use of spoons. 6 children were able to start communicating using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), 11 children showed significant improvement of receptive spoken language and imitation skills.
Says Mairam, mother of Erden and Aima - two adorable children with autism: "This training was a God send! I started to understand why my children are behaving in such ways, what needs to be done to make them happier. Using the knowledge of behavioral treatments I was able to communicate better. Erden became calmer, tantrums are far less frequent, he can use pictograms to make requests now, so he is less frustrated. Aima loves playing with toys; she now has favorite things where she can divert all her non-stop energy. Just last week Aima was able to show me, father, and brother on photos. I know it is not much for an outsider, but for me it is a sea of change in just 3 month! It is unbelievable, thank you so much for your help!"
Dinara, single mother of nine year old Shamil: "Shamil is my only child, he is everything to me. Every night when I go to bed, I can't fall asleep. I can't help, but think of his future including the time when I am no longer around to take care of him. Who is going to look after him? Even now, still a child he is rejected from every kindergarten that I have tried to place him, because of his autism. When he is fully grown up will he keep acting out the same way? After Parental Training I for the first time I feel that it is way too early to give up now. With help of supervisors I study with Shamil literally every available moment at home, on the street. There is a progress, however small and the only think I regret that I did not start years ago..."
At this point we have completed 30 hour Parental Training with first group of 14 parents ($420), bought set of teaching materials for every child ($700), had them assessed using ABBLS-R Protocol and every child had received individualized 3 month study plan ($1400). Twice a month a supervisor was observing a parent child training sessions, after 3 months children were given follow up assessment. On September 29 we will begin Parental Training for 20 new parents of children with autism. Because of your help, 10 families will attend training, receive set of teaching materials, have their child assessed and supervised free of charge.
